Good Morning, from someone who has been offline with the Coin Community, I've been very busy. In celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday, I bargained with my senior friend who is trying to sell out his collection. I bought a 1916d Mercury dime certified in 1979 by Littleton Stamp and Coin, ANACS graded Good 6, my question is with a g-6 back in 1979, would the grade be higher now, seeing as though standards of grading have changed? I bought it for $832.50 and felt pretty good about it seeing as though it completed my Mercury collection. (except for the 42/1) Have a great day! |

I would get it regraded 1916-d It may grade higher!
1 good thing is you will have a new Holder if you send back ANACS

AMAC 44, thanks for the reply. Must of been before the slabs, it is enclosed in a plastic sleeve, with a picture in black and white, typed on a manual typewriter with the ANACS register number and raise letter embosed seal. Once I get back to the states, I will have it regraded. Last year I bought a 1914d from him, good to VG for only $85, thats increased in value too. He has offered me 640 silver quarters, ranging from dates 1932 to 1964, for $1350. no 32d, but he is selling on the value of the silver, not the grade of the coin. I have to let the dust settle before I try to sqeeze in that purchase.

ok I have not posted my buys lately. I went to the coin shop today Mainly to shot the breeze with the dealer, but I did buy some coins. First I pick up the coin or coins for the person that I am honored to buy for. OK but here is what I got. I got nothing to special I bought 5 more silver dime vg-vf for my Roosevelt dime set. I am 8 away from being done with that set, the set is 1946-2006. It is a set I got most accept the most of the silver coin out of rolls. But I need 5 silver and 3 clad. I think it will be fun to say I have a dime every year since 1916. I bought the Barber dime dansco folder so at some time in my life I will start a barber set. But my second buy was a big one it was 4 Lincoln Memorial cents. a whole 20 cents fro those the ones I bought were the 1960-D small and large Dated,1960 Large date and 1970-s SD and LD and a 1962. I am just missing one more it is the 1960-P Small Date would of got it but he could find one. I am in the the middle of cleaning up my collection and finishing off my set that I have started doing out of rolls. I really want to concentrate on my Type set and buying older proof sets but I have to mainy thing going so I want to finish some of my loose end of my collections. so not much of a buy but just thought I would share what I have been buying. Oh ya I also put a 1859 Indian cent on Layway that will go in my type set. I will post a picture of that coin when I get it off layway. after I get that I will have all small cents for the type set |

bought a 1923-D Peace in VF20 for $11 and a 1883-O in MS62/63 Morgan for $20., Good times.

That's a beautiful Penny - nice on-center strike, great preservation. Would I be asking to much for you to share roughly what it cost? |

I paid AU$56 inc shipping for it. Which is about US$43.

That's an excellent price. You'd be hard-pressed to do better for a coin of that quality. |

Yes, I was very happy with the price. Being on the Australian ebay only I guess the lack of demand lead to a lower price. Just regarding the photo, this is one of the few cases where I believe the photo is actually rather flattering to the piece in hand. In hand the tonal variations are harsher where as the photo seems to have smoothed these out. I still love the piece though and will be buying more if they come up on ebay down here. |
