T360, I'll see that and raise you . What a beautiful, detailed portrait.

Say, does anyone have a denarius example with a well-detailed image of Concordia on the reverse? It always seems that no matter how perfectly executed the Emperor's portrait may be, the standing female reverse image is just plain crude.

I think one of the reasons you don't seem to find detailed reverses is where at the wrong end of the market, all the gold and best detailed coins are plucked out of the hoards for top end selling,I only have a few examples of Concordia and they all seem the same so I'll post another denarii with that theme this is Faustina Sr as Augusta 18.mm 2.85g Rome mint 139-141 A.D.supose RIC A Pius 335 but variation Obv:FAVSTINA AVGVSTA Rev:CONCORDIA AVG Ad68-Fiddling-While-Rome-Burns--Post-Your-Roman-Denarii-Pics Ad68-Fiddling-While-Rome-Burns--Post-Your-Roman-Denarii-Pics I think you see what I mean regards Harry

BTW, Archaeologists digging in Sagalassos, Turkey recently uncovered a colossal marble head of the Roman Empress Faustina.

I have a few other denarii from Antonine Dynasty.

This is a two-headed coin, with Antoninius Pius on one side and his successor Marcus Aurelius on the other.

Thanks Harry! It's great to have someone to show them to.
I've gradually picked them up one at a time over the past eight years.

Here is Marcus Aurelius' wife, Empress Faustina the Younger.
She was the daughter of Antoninus Pius and Faustina the Elder.
