Cherrypicked this one recently and it just arrived. I'm not a collector of toned coins but figured it would go MS-63 plus the RPM and toning (looks better in hand than in my pics) so grabbed it. Probably send it off to NGC to see what kind of grade it will get and have the variety put on the label.

Very nice variety! Is the toning natural or artificial? Looks very bright and chemically, so I would think artificial, but you have a better feel of it in hand.

Toning look legit, but I worry it may get detailed for that spot near the date. Either way great cherrypick. If it doesn't detail, I'd say MS-63 is only accurate because they'd net grade it. If the spot wasn't there I'd give it a 65.

I am extremely reluctant to treat expensive coins, but I wonder if paying to have them "conserve" the coin before slabbing would spiffy up those spots at all and have less of a chance of a details grade.

Thanks for all the kind words!

Conserving? Even the best ruin them:

Conserving ruined this one to me.

Stunning example and I like the color as well even though it may not be natural.

I hope yours "passes" with flying colors but I have heard of them getting a details grade after conserving because of a previous cleaning.

The spots on the reverse are carbon spots. But I'd leave it alone. Maybe put it in an air tight holder. Make sure it is totally dry before putting it in though.
