Found this quarter while roll searching. Checked variety vista and I thought there were enough similarities to the FS-801 that I would post here and get some opinions. I know my photography needs work- I did use a couple different scopes to get the photos. Thanks all for your thoughts.

Looks like MD to me. See the big notch on the S of STATES http://varietyvista.com/09b%20WQ%20...6PDDR001.htm your coin does not have that.

So while the devices could look like your example, note what is different on a real doubled die:
1966-Washington-Quarter---DDR?
Note because the spread is in the center, the devices are wider than normal because of the hub doubling this die. How much larger are the devices?
1966-Washington-Quarter---DDR?
Side by side with a DDR and a normal coin.

Machine Doubling on reduces the normal size even smaller and always affects the outsides of the devices, removing the contour of the devices.
