Secret security features might be good for the Mint. But for dealers and collectors it does little to help stop fakes since we don't know what to look for, ineffective. As I mentioned before, Britain and Canada have better security features, hologram, tiny lettering etc. They don't have to be secret about it, right there for all to see, the new designs make it considerably more difficult to fake than prior coins. Hope I'm wrong but I question if the US Mint really has extra security featues, their silence is more bluffing than real IMO. They don't want to admit their security technology is currently substandard. I've looked at my missing reed edges with 10x loupe, can't see anything unique. If there's something there at 1,000+ magnified it won't help collectors much, most of us can't/don't look at coins at that power.
