Got this coin as part of my tip at work. 1966 quarter. Looks like it just came out of mint it's very shiny, looks new. Obverse has a piece of metal attached ( struck on?) the piece is magnetic, quarter not. Best pics I could get.

Possible solder? If the weight is over normal that is what happened to the coin. something was added to the coin.

It is something on the coin.
You can't have something sticking out out from the rim if it struck in collar.

Looks like solder to me too. Knowing the weight would help to confirm though.

OP says stuck on piece is magnetic, so wouldn't be solder.

@CUJOHN It is a molding alloy. Electrical and gas molding (solder) for any Fe base alloy is magnetic. Is big enough to has the magnetic fields expose.

it is a solid core (no flux) solder that is commonly used in joining copper pipe together for plumbing. It also could be a silver solder that is used in jewelry making.
