Tip #4: Silver you buy for well over melt value might not be worth over melt value in the future.

An example is from 2011 when silver hit $50, many pieces that were selling at double melt when silver was $20 had virtually no premium at $50.

Yah, don't get caught up in the hype on the way UP or DOWN. You can lose your shirt either way...

Not a fan of 40% or 35% for silver content purposes & Actually sold off a couple rolls of 40% Kennedy's to purchase walkers. But as a collector I have Bu examples of all the War Nickels & a couple Bu 40% Kennedy halves & a handful of Bu & proof 40% ikes.
I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

I dislike the idea of 40% silver coins because not many people know about them, and no one wants to have to explain it (especially in a SHTF scenario when stacking comes into play).

I'll go a step further and say I prefer coins where you don't need to check the date at all, in other words any type that doesn't span 1964. Give me some Mercurys, Walkers, Franklins, that's the good stuff.

I do love the Franklin silver proofs, too, Tim NH!
