I've worn the "bloody bucket" on my sleeve, as well (28th ID, 1/107th FA out of Pittsburgh). Let me see if I can dig-up any of my old military shots... A-ha! Here's one. There's a Desert-Brown "Blood Bucket" under that MP brassard.

TK, I'm familiar with the 28th ID (PA NG) from my interest in military history. It got stomped during WW2 at the Battle of the Bulge but recovered heroically. My former home in upstate NY is near the Southern Tier of NY, so a lot of 28th ID personnel came from places near Binghamton (Broome Co), NY. You must be proud to have served in a unit with such a fine tradition. Quickie question: where are you now that you list your location as Canada? And, that appears to be an Order of the Purple Heart award you are receiving. I hope you have fully recovered although you'll probably find you never really recover from such trauma. Been there, done it. Fred

Hi Fred, If you are ever in Pittsburgh - stop by Hunt Armory on Emerson Street. There are many photographs and historical information about the unit in displays throughout the building that you would enjoy. I retired in 2005 and opened-up my own consulting business. Currently I am on a contract in Toronto until mid-2007. My injuries, which entitled me to receive a Purple Heart, were minor. Someone must've been watching over me that day, because I was able to walk out of a suicide bomber attack. ~Roman

If I remember correctly this is 'kinda' what the patch (Bloody Bucket) looks like. I was an Air Force communications guy but was assigned to JTF-SWA, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2000/2001. I worked with the Army during this period and was given this challenge coin for being safe, LOL. I also ended up with a Joint Service Achievement Medal which was cool. Take Care Ben And Me :)
