I noticed that a lot of, if not most, 1986's have a circle just a couple of mm from the rim. I dont have a picture right now but maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about(it runs thought all the letters too). So can somebody tell what that is.

Another thing I wanted to ask is was a design strengthen in 1974. Especially around lincoln's head. I also notice those '74, the hair details look much stronger. So was is strengthen in 1974?

Thank you

Many memorial cents of the early zinc period have this 'ring' - it is caused by Die Deterioration...basically wear and tear on the die.

1974 cents do have two different designs. Compare a few using a loupe and you will find two different date styles.

Speaking of the mid 1970s, while searching rolls, I've noticed many cents from that time with a lot or nearly full mint luster. Has anyone else seen this ?
