Electric: Yes the two commemoratives I picked out were certainly PQ++ for the grade Especially the San Diego, I still can't figure out what knocked the coin down 4pts. Yes, I love the Texas Centennial, awesome in hand! PQ+ also don't know how it didn't make MS-66.
Mkl: I have not decided yet. I am going to leave them be for right now. If I put them in a 7070 I will wait till I have assembled the entire set so I can cut down on opportunities for me to damage the coins and the folder by constantly opening and closing the pages.
For now they will be going into an Intercept Shield Slab Box.

You are off to a great start! Quote: If I put them in a 7070 I will wait till I have assembled the entire set so I can cut down on opportunities for me to damage the coins and the folder by constantly opening and closing the pages. A very good idea if you are building a high grade set.

I added 2 new coins to the type set this week! A 1835 Capped Bust Dime PCGS VF-35 which I love! The quarter has some nice toning around rim on obv and rev that did not show well in the pics. I also picked up a nice 1962 Franklin half NGC Proof-66. This coin will most likely be booted out of the 7070 later on but I couldn't pass it up at the bargin price of $14 (Good Deal?) while picking up the quarter. Pics of the 2 latest additions! 1935 Bust Quarter 1962 Franklin Proof I am going to a coin show in 2 weeks can't wait! Hopefully I will find a thing or two to pick up forthe set! I will try to keep you guys posted along the way.

Quote: if I were designing my own Dansco 7070, what would I add or drop I didn't read all 3 pages of this thread but did see this question and in my opinion one thing I would drop is 4 different half dollar commemoratives. there is quite a few (really expensive) coins that were left out as well but unless you are wanting to spend close to 100k for the coins just in AU (to fill the whole set) I would not even worry about those. If I had a special type I was really interested in like Johnny with the gold coins then I may add those types that weren't included. Are you going to be doing a 19th and 20th century type set or are you going to be doing a US type set with an example of every coin ever minted in the US? If its the later then your budget would have to be enormous to accomplish this and thats why most people have a start and end date/century

Wow Gary! That is an extremely impressive and comprehensive type set! How long did it take you to build that? I've split my Dansco 7070 into two albums now and doing some additional customization because it isn't comprehensive enough for me, but your set is amazing! Congratulations!

I know most of you have already seen these coins in other threads, I have decided to bring this thread back and consolidate my type set coins back to one thread, as there are some great coins posted by Gary and Johnny as well as my type set updates. I want to limit it to one thread if anyone is interested in following along in my persuit of a complete and unique type set. 1836 Classic Quarter Eagle VF-30 ANACS 1901 Liberty Quarter Eagle AU-58 NGC 1878 Liberty Half Eagle AU-58 NGC Not Pictured PCGS AU-58 1927 Quarter Eagle 2006 American Silver Eagle MS-69 NGC 1962 Jefferson nickel PF-67 NGC 1961-D Roosevelt dime MS-65 ANACS 1834 Classic Head Half Cent VF-35 ANACS PQ for the grade IMO. (scratches are on plastic) I got a slip in the mail today saying they are holding a package for me to pick up in the morning! My Newest Addition! Can't Wait! Will update tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words Moe! I know you have a nice 7070, so you know the excitement of finding that perfect coin to fill the slot. It is highly addictive I still have a long long way to go as I am only around 20% complete, but loving every minute!

Gary, those are some sweet looking early commmorative halves. Very nice. I have always liked the capital holders, I even found a custom made one for my pillar dollar collection. Your type set ones are nice, I've never seen the gold type ones before.

the highest priced coins in my album is the older Half Cents and large cents and I have the gold page as well. If you are looking for problem free AU or above these are very pricey, so if you are wanting to get the higher priced coins out of the way first this would be where I would start. You can always wait till spot price falls to get common date gold and get them close to spot but those coppers don't follow any spot price and they are doing nothing but rising in value

Arrived today via Mail! 1911 $10 Eagle (46 stars) What do you think it graded? Still has some great Mint Luster remaining! I also posted this in the grading section.
