hey, sorry all, but I really like it.
It looks classic to me.

And, since I like it--
Don't worry those who don't like it--
They'll change it.

;)

I like it a lot! Simple, clean, and classic! A major improvement over cramming the Lincon Memorial building onto a such a small surface. Much better even than the tiny details of the several 2009 Lincon reverses. On a par, imo, with the wheat reverse. Lets see how it looks in metal on the business strikes and on the proofs.

Looks like it was designed by Union Pacific.

I think the design is a lot like the shield Two Cent and the Indian cent reverse. It has that "look" on the sketch design but we will see what it looks like when they create it. I kind of like it because it is retro imo. I like retro . Now if we can get the mint to put liberty back on a circ coin I would be very happy. At lest it is not as bad as the new plat 2009 proof reverse with the little tiny eagle head..

I prefer the shield to the wheat design I saw several months back. Honestly I like having different coins designs every year. It makes coin collecting far more interesting and as a numismatist I get very tired of seeing the same design over and over again as the years go by. Additionally the State Quarter program brought in a bunch of new coin collectors into the hobby which is never a bad thing for those of us who buy and sell or invest in coins. The Westward journey nickels were very classy and even the 2009 quarters are great. Now if we could just change the increadably ugly 10 cent design that I am so sick of seeing. Speaking of which has anyone even seen a 2009 nickel or dime in circulation? Sincerely, John Leckrone

John,Welcome to the family, what do you collect, and like the most of the you S coinage?

I too feel the Roosevelt dime needs to pass the torch to Theodore Roosevelt, now that would be a very sweet coin, after all he has done for the American way....

Also, yes I have found more than one 2009-P dime in circulation...I wonder how much longer the vaults holding the 2009-D dimes floorboards will hold up before breaking under all the weight from not a one, being circulated......Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the welcome. I am in the business so by default I collect everything. My inventory/collection is very diverse but what I enjoy most are the Morgan silver dollars. This is followed by the Mercury dime. The pennies come in 3rd and are where I spend most of my treasure hunting time although Kennedy half dollars come in a strong 4th and represent the other part of my hunting experiences.

This is my first post as I am a new member. I do like the retro look of the design of the cent reverse, and I believe a line drawing can not do justice to the actual coin, so we'll see.

I thought some of the other options were better. Perhaps the mint thinks if they make the design bad enough, no one will miss the cent when they pull it from circulation.

I find it kind of boring as others have said. I liked the one with the Eagle holding the Olive branch and arrows.

Can't say I like the design but I've got 68 open holes in my Dansco CENTS album so I guess I will collect them. At least until 2043 if I do both P and D. After that who knows?
