I've tabulated as much info on Canadian coins as I can in an xls file. It's mainly for record-keeping my own collection, but secondarily for curiosity and completeness.

Now I don't own any 2000P coins except for the nickel. And I may never own any either. So this is purely for curiosity.
(Well, I might buy the one cent -- see below -- but only because my collection is otherwise "complete".)

Here is what I know:

2000P 50 cents: about 25 known
2000P 25 cents: 2 Caribou, 5 Community, 2 Creativity known; freedom?
2000P 10 cents: about 200 minted
2000P 5 cents: produced for circulation (4.899 million)
2000P 1 cent: 6 known

Do any of you guys/gals know more? In particular, has anyone here seen a 2000P cent? I've read that they exist, but I've never seen one on E-Bay. Also, I've never read anything further about their production/rarity/value.

Thanks in advance!

I currently see three dimes on ebay (granted they are all over $1500) so wonder if the 200 number is accurate.

I'm not sure where your 50 cent number comes from but
according to Charlton the number of the 50 Cent is believed to be fewer than 276.

Nice list. You might want to add in the 1967 Doubled Date coin. it is listed at http://coinsandcanada.com/coins-pri...t-1965-2010. If you want to see one check my post here on the Canadian variety and errors forum. I have a pic of one I found recently.

Sure, but CCF doesn't allow file attachments to posts (apart from images). Here's a screenshot of my file -- as you can see, it's probably not unlike what many of you already have.

Canada-2000-P-Coins---Help-My-Spreadsheet

Anyone who wants my a copy of this sheet (in progress) can send me a PM and I'll do my best to get back to everyone. Please reply with your suggested changes, if any. In particular, the 1 cent is quite complete (perhaps overly complete), but the higher denominations could use some tweaking.

Let's for now avoid turning it into a "price guide" -- but I am certain this project can be improved with your help. Maybe one day, we can lobby for a listing of a stable version on CCF, like the U.S. lists.

Further to this, it seems we have several posts which ask about Canadian cent (and higher denomination) varieties.

With 5 minutes of sorting and copying/pasting, I've outputted below what my sheet lists for all Canadian 1 cent varieties. This includes dates with both mintmarks and without, different compositions, known die varieties, and even some of the frequently collected Die Deterioration pieces.

bibd, thank you for this list ,I had to go back through my 2006 and see what I had.I have been roll searching for 10 years but the short terminology can you please explain,

zinc - non magnetic
steel - magnetic
L steel - ?
L zinc - ?
PL - ?

I think it is mostly the L that is trowing me off.

mcshilling: Thanks for your interest in the list, and welcome!

I use 'L' for the new Royal Canadian Mint logo in 2006, when there was a transition to this new logo. Various references and now collectors have started adopting this 'L' notation. I personally find it can be confusing too -- so I agree with you there.

PL just means prooflike.

Interesting thread you have going ..

I hope I can ask a question

With US cents we have key dates and semi keys. Like 1909 S vdb 1914 D etc...

Are there similar key dates that are worth a lot, not just varieties.

I guess I am asking what are the hardest holes to fill in your albums.

a few non varietal rarities...

There are standard low mintage years/key dates of pennies such as small pennies (1922-26, 1930-31), with the 1925 being the rarest, although 1923 dated coins are the most valuable.

nickels 1925-1926 with 1925 taking the cake though there is a rare 1926 variety,The 1921 50¢ is also an extremely rare coin...

1948 50c and dollar...

there are more keydates pre - 1920 of course

According to the most recent copy of CCN Trends - the 2000P one cent does not exist so my question "bibd" is where did you get your information regarding 6 of these existing? Most interesting thread.

Also, FYI, the "P" is not a mintmark but a composition mark. The "L" is sometimes substituted by an "M", but they refer to the same thing, that is, the logo for the Canadian mint (which I learned is the only mint to have its logo on a coin of any country... is this true?).

I think the 2000P cent is listed on the J & M catalog and the "Coins and Canada" site. I have never seen a transaction of one, nor have I seen one on display anywhere.

Maybe I should ask at J & M next time I'm there.
