Got this Zincoln back in change today. It had a light, chalky verdgris on it. This conservation took about 1 minute with a micro fiber towel.   |

OK Thad, I'm ready to start experimenting.
A couple questions. Just finished roll searching and found a decent 2004-1DR-009. It's a little dirty and has been around the block a few times, but no verdigris and is nice shape. How would you attack roll finds?
Should I rinse in acetone and try to remove any dirt, oils, etc., then treat it? Or should I just go with the head-on assault with Verdi-Care?

I usually recommend using with water and acetone prior to conservation. However, most of the examples I posted in this thread went straight to VERDI-CARE™. You have to decide for yourself, but it's usually safe to right to the product. You can always wash off the VERDI-CARE™ with water and start over. I had a question, are Verdi-care and Verdi-gone ok to be used together? Or should it be either, or.

VERDI-CARE™ is vastly superior. I will be discontinuing VERDI-GONE™ once current inventories are depleated. So, stick with VERDI-CARE™.

Hey....on that 1932BU....what exactly did you do? Soak (how long) or rub method? Did you try using a toothpick on the tough spots while it was soaking?

When I do the toothpick method I like to use this 10-mL beaker. It's easy to hold the coin and keep it submerged.  |

I used the soak method, and yes I tried a toothpick. The stuff on there felt very hard, and raised above the surface. Almost like paint!

In that case, you probably don't want to remove it! There will be pits under the corrosion. How long did you soak it?

I only soaked for about 1-2 minutes. What could I expect with a longer soak?

To be honest, I'm not sure what you'll get with a longer soak. Why not try for a few hours? It may loosen up that thicker verdigris. I would poke at it every so often during a 3-4 hour soak. I may even be inclined to soak it for a full 24 hours to see what happens. A couple of minutes has already helped it tremendously!
I suspect you won't get complete removal of the thickest verdigris....but maybe you can cut it down to size.

A longer soak, say 24 hours, wouldnt cause any damage would it?
