Nice to see that the thread has been resurrected. I might have to do some more scanning.

One of my favorite US coins.... Here is a photo of my 18.11 that just came back from NGC as "improperly cleaned." It was originally in an ANACS holder, was broken out and re-submitted for a possible higher grade. Mistake !

Fatboy, looking good. In the event you haven't seen this I ran across a FREE photo software product that has a steep learning curve but it very powerful: http://www.gimp.org/ It takes a while to become comfortable with this program but the price is right. Wayne

Fatboy! Awesome coin! You know if you post the first coin, then hit load another, the original screen comes up. BUT you then have to minimize that screen because the post screen is in the background. You can then post as many pictures as you want! Post away my friend!

TPG's are fickle about this cleaning business, one day it may bag, the next day it grades.

TDColl..I know it is frustrating dealing with these TPG's. My 18.11 CBH looks so original that I was dumbfounded when it came back as 'improperly cleaned." ? With all the counterfeits flooding the US Market, I've started sending my raw coins in for certification....guess it is my way of putting my 'affairs in order' for another generation.

That's good of you, sfchemist. =) It's sad that it has to happen though, because there's nothing like a real, silver, weighty coin in your hand. (lol - I'd say the same about gold, but I've never done it!) They just don't make enough of them these days. I guess that's what's great about the Peace dollars - they feel great, they look fantastic, and they are a bajillion of them in mediocre circulating condition such that it's not bad to have it out and play with it in your hand! And the nice ones are well cared-for. But... nothing will substitute for feeling that real piece of hundreds of years of history right in your hand... =)

Nice coin delaner....I like the nice original toning on your coin and I also know what you mean about having a coin in your hand rather than in a piece of plastic. I have a well worn 1794 Large Cent, raw, and it is interesting to hold this thing and wonder what stories it could tell. For example, in 1835 when your CBH was minted, Andrew Jackson was President and some lunatic actually tried to shoot him near the Capitol Building. Fortunately President Jackson was able to disarm this character before any injuries occurred.
