I was hit with visions of cattle stampedes in the coining room, cows caught between upper and lower dies, etc, etc. If was lots of fun, but it slowed me down quite a bit from what I really wanted to learn. Die gouges involved cats caught in similar situations, strike throughs were side effects of the timber logging activities within the same coining room,

Keep in mind, that glossary probably doesn't forestall more than 1% of questions asked on this forum. You guys are all experienced members, and didn't know we had it.

Part and parcel of what we're doing here involves answering the same questions, over and over. Goes with the territory. We don't ask the membership at large to do it (although some demonstrate incredible patience with newer members) but the mods took the task on as part of the job description.

Dave, my earliest lessons in numismatics came at the merciless hands of folks like John Roberts, Brian Raines, Roger Burdette, John Coxe, and a vast array of other stand up comedians who showed me no quarter, yet my eyes remained red from laughter. It was great fun, and if it hadn't been, I would not have survived to this point. I remain indebted to these clowns.

I'll accept that Russ. I learned an awful lot from Terry, about coins as well as other things.

Oh, you can read well enough Gene, you just need to learn how to use the 'spell checker' that the rest of us rely heavily upon.

As a new comer without any prejudices, pre conceived notions my thoughts and comments below about some things I have observed and most importantly made "educated" guesstimates based on my readings. Think outside the box so to say.

PUP's - I too wondered about this within a week or 2. This is a great disservice that the upper management so to say is doing and withholding. My 2 cents - It's not about buying the book or CD yada yada. It's about control and grabbing as much of the supply of coins that is out there b4 new comers like me have a chance to get it.

Simple concept - When Walt Disney opened up Disney world he gave away free colorful magazines which cost around $3 back in the day for free. When someone questioned him about it he said something like "well they will take it home leave it on the coffee table and guests to that house will get a chance to "visualize" what Disney world looks like" it was FREE advertising like a never ending commercial. From that day forward Disney world never looked back. They did the same thing with building hotels on their own property when they saw other hotel operator's move into their hood (Territory). They did not try to STOP the other operators.

Who in their right mind can subscribe to the theory of top 50 or whatever when 90% of what's out there is still not discovered? Also who makes up this 50 - the person or person's who has the 50 coins - someone a few pages back has already eluded / alluded to this point. Refer to paragraph two for your answer.

As per Vamworld and not to offend anyone. The main factor that is holding "BACK" that "Palace" yes Palace is rather simple. I personally DO NOT see a "cohesive" community. Here you have the "haves and the have not's". "Haves" are keeping quiet and are disjointed. On the other hand "have not's" are united and marching along and "may" eventually / ultimately lead the pack if left to a democratic process (jmo).

Why am I staying with O mm's - In large part it's due to "superdave" aka David and the local coin shop guy. This is from "reading" his posts repeatedly and making my "own independent call" (this is key). I do not read all his posts but I have got good at picking and choosing the ones to read and one would think as a follower / admirer of his "skill set" I would have chosen 1921 to focus on. Think for yourself, but be objective and be open minded. I also read the posts made by the other VAM cohorts here and at vw.

Here is a simple prediction - The belly button Morgan's WILL surface again somewhere down the road as a big thing with a lot of hoopla. Some of the power players are sitting on it for the time being.

I live by KISS = keep It Simple Stupid.

BTW, I have no clue on some of what's been discussed but eventually and would then be follwed by

Peace to all

I just noticed that most of you guys are night owls, and since it is more fun to receive and give spontaneous comments rather than well thought out ones, I will adjust my sleeping habits to stay up with you guys. Friday and Saturday nights are 'usually' reserved for dates or dancing, but the rest of the week, I'll be available for whatever until we run out of stuff to talk or argue about or until such time as we develop intense hatred of each other.
