Been doing lots of Quarter searching this year. So far in 2023, I've found 10Ws in 14,680 quarters searched... no silver yet, but I did find a 2015-S Homestead (Nebraska) proof.
The W breakdown: 2019: AMP: 4 WITP (Guam): 1
2020: Salt River: 2 Tallgrass: 2 Marsh-Billings: 1

Nice finds, John77. I have no idea why, but you may have noticed that there is a significant price difference between different W issues. The American Memorial Park W quarters sell for $35-40 on ebay, whereas the other 2019 Ws sell for around $10-15. Likewise for 2020, the Marsh Billings goes for $25-30, the American Samoa for $15-20, and the others about $10-15. I have not seen any explanation for this pattern, and mintages are all equivalent. My speculation is that it has something to do with coin distribution and shutdowns during the early part of the pandemic.

Thank you, TomM! Quote: I have no idea why, but you may have noticed that there is a significant price difference between different W issues. I've actually been meaning to look these up on ebay and sell my duplicates, so that information is much appreciated! I also have one that has an ugly little rim nick, which I was probably going to just put up at auction to see what it might bring. My speculation in terms of the distribution is the same as yours. Interestingly, the only ones I'm missing are the first issue (Lowell and American Samoa) from each year. I have found 22 total to date - here are the four I found last week. I bought 1,600 more quarters yesterday but it looks like I'll be skunked as the 800 MWR had none and the 800 CWR ones all seem to be almost entirely comprised of pre-2009 dated coins. Doubly bad for me because I do save the under 50 million minted varieties from 2009-2012. The Olympia (Washington) coins from 2011 (both mints) do not show up often here at all, for whatever reason.

I went through 1,600 Quarters this past Thursday and another 720 on Monday.... while the latter was a skunk, Thursday's batch added two more Ws to my total (now 24)...

2,000 quarters bought last Thursday and Friday were complete skunks in terms of Ws and silver, but I did find one interesting coin... I'm hoping someday I find one of those 2004-D error quarters, but this will have to do for now.

I bought a roll of quarters to add coins to my laundry fund. When I opened the roll and looked through the coins, I saw the pale white and toned reverse of one and I thought "No way!" I flipped the coin to reveal a 1964 Washington. This is my first silver quarter found in circulation in 7 years!

Very nice find, yes. The last silver quarter I found in in a roll was 5+ years ago.

First attempt at roll hunting. Found in one box of quarters. I think I got pretty lucky. These silvers plus 3 Ws.

You did get lucky. I went through 2 boxes last week and I didn't get anything worth keeping.
