You wont believe this, I looked under a yellow coin star and found a roll of cents! I couldn't get it so I came back with a clothes hanger and got it!

The very first time I checked a Coinstar machine I found a 1917 50 centimes coin from France. 83.5% silver. I've had very good luck finding silver in this machine, including a Barber dime, several Roosevelt dimes, a Washington quarter or two, and a 1966 Canadian quarter.

I am surprised that you can still find silver dimes in the wild like that. Nice.

I found 30 silver dimes in less than a month back when I worked at a convenience store. About 8 of them were in terrible shape (one was even bent). The ones in rough shape were all spent by the same customer. I don't want to know where he got them. I still have all the dimes.

At the end of last week, this is what one of my local Coinstars yielded one morning...
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

First silver today since Feb 15. Since that date, I've found the following: US Coins15 zinc Lincoln cents 4 clad dimes 7 clad quarters (only one was in bad shape) 8 copper Memorial Lincoln cents 1 1939P Lincoln Cent1 1943 P Lincoln steel cent 1 1962 silver Roosevelt dimeOddly, no nickels. And $2.50 more to the Salvation Army jar. Foreign coins. Tokens. Coinstar searches - A nice pass time and makes shopping chores a bit of fun.
