Agreed about those Hot Wheels items. As a kid I was once riding my bike around some factories and saw a bunch of the track sticking out of a local plastic company's dumpster. It was FULL of track, connectors, and the U-shaped plastic turns. So what do you think a pre-teen kids would do with this? My friends and I had the largest sets of Hot Wheels track around! Good memories... I still have about a gross of old Matchbox (mostly pre-Superfast) and Hot Wheels in cases - but played with condition @yup When Star Wars first came out, my brother literally wall-papered two walls of his bedroom - floor to ceiling - with Star Wars cards (most were the old blue set)!

@Earl
Yea, tell me about it! Man were those the tracks when they were like solid red, with sides so your car would stay in them but you can let them ramp up and down from different angles?
I still have my Matchbox cars also,, many with made in England, also Hot Wheels. Its amazing how everything went plastic,, and just so cheap. Plus if you got the older matchbox, some vehicles they sold here were standard English vehicles lol
Haha that story you mention about your brother is something else would have looked cool!. ... you know whats so funny is decades later, even card backs from figures, boxes, everything star wars is nowadays sought after! amazing!

@yup - my track was the exact stuff shown in the pictures on the boxes in your already posted pics. Mine was more a deep yellowish-orangeish than a true red (like in the pic). The connectors slid were a shade of purple; long, flat, almost rounded-corner triangles that had the Hot WHeels logo embossed in the plastic. The connectors slid into grooves made to accept them along the bottoms of the pieces of track.
We used to put track up our cellar stairs and let the cars ride down the track and go through loops at the bottom of the stairs, and then into two of the you turns. Funny but my fastest car (and believe me we spent enough hours testing them!) was a Matchbox SuperFast though. My fastest Hot Wheels was the "Smuggler" model.

thanks wireman - your CCF name makes me think of the insulator hobby or a lineman - or possibly barbed wire?

Besids coins I also collect: 1-Beer Coasters especially PA brewers. Highly collectible area. Some older coasters go for $1,000 or more. Beautiful graphics. Also older brewery items such as labels, openers, etc. 2-Military Scale Armor. I have a large collection of 1/144 scale and 1/72 scale models. Have made many dioramas. I used to compete in Wargaming also. Since the new royalty laws concerning German and Japanese insignas on scale models the industry has almost come to a standstill. Right now I have a large collection being sold on ebay under my ebay user xyguy12. 3-Have a large collection of Fly Fishing rods and reels. Used to build rods and go to the flea marts in New Hampshire buying old reels and bamboo rods. Be putting them up for sale also. Thats about it. edgman

When I was about 10 I picked up bottlecaps (stinky collection ) I used to live in Chicago; I'd pick up any used transit fare cards. Acquired quite a collection, mainly of two types, but some others as well. I collect Marklin analog trains made from 1950-1990. This is my biggest pride. (Most ebay money goes to them, I find my coins CRHing).

In addition to U.S. coins, I collect Star Trek toys. Mostly the classic series with Kirk, Spock, etc. I have some Star Wars I collected with my kids, but since we moved I have no where to display it, so I've slowly been selling pieces. Also some Batman and GI Joe.

I got a new case given to me as a gift from fellow insulator collectors so I had to take another pic and post it. Its centered below the two windows, is made of Oak, is heavy duty and quality material throughout. And ues, that's an "I Dream Of Jeanie" bottle sitting on top of it

Thanks again Voshus - to the left of all of this is another major case showing 200 more. That's most of what I have displayed in the house. A couple poles outside and around a couple hundred lie the sidewalk in the flower gardens. And believe it or not, there are large tubs in the basement and I gave away close to 2K of them before moving to where I am now! But I also admit, some of the large tube are sale's stock. @snowmav - I used to collect bottles more avidly than I do now. Most of them are in boxes though. My grandfather used to work for Barracuda Fishing Tackle company in Tampa FL in the 50s and 60s. When I was growing up my dad had, literally, a filing cabinet with drawers filled with lures b/c a perk my Grandfather's work gave him was he was allowed to take a number of lures home for free every so often. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to be old enough to take serious interest, my Dad had gotten rid of all of them for next to nothing Medical paraphenalia? I have an large, antique projection microscope and an antique analytical balance I rescued years ago. Sort of medical!

I collect single malt whiskeys. One bottle I purchased in 2003 for €90.00 is now worth almost €2000.00. I'm glad I had purchased two and drank one...at least I know what it tastes like
