Thanks for the info. I guess that will be my February coin collection purchase. Now I just have to find the best deal I can.

I'm actually wondering whether the sets in OGP will actually go up in value due to the fact that so many sets have been broken up to be slabbed. I really love the look of the OGP and the coins look so nice sitting where they belong: Obviously, having the coins graded and slabbed increases their value in the short term, but I just have this feeling that 20 years from now people will pay extra for an "original" set.

What gets me is how hard it was for people to get these but shows like The Coin Vault and Barry Chappells Coin Show were able to order seemingly hundreds to thousands of these sets and are selling them for absurd prices. I get sick of seeing them advertised on their shows.

I think you are exactly right. I'm not at all bashing those who chose to slab, but it wasn't for me. The OGP is beautiful! I don't care if the slabs fit in the OGP box, it still ain't the same. In the years to come. I think OGP will become more desirable - especially since so many OGP sets have been broken up and the boxes thrown away. On a personal note, I'm in the market for a 20th annie set and I could care less about slabs. I want to enjoy the set the way the mint intended...in the original government package.

I'm sure they paid a small premium for them but not much.

CDN list it's value at, I think $425. I see a set in one of the local Pensacola shops, not sure what area you are in.

barry and mach I completely agree with you, everyone rushed off to have them graded for monetary value as far as I can tell, the ones who are keeping in mint package are the true old school collectors (including me haha) they are beautiful to look at and I dont need someone telling me its a 69 or 70 I can care less

A whole bunch of people trashed the OGP just to have their coins come back "69", and even now those 69 Sets have little if any premium over OGP Sets. Not only have I kept my Sets in their OGP, I've bought extra A25 box/COA's

I plan on getting both the 25 and 20 year anneversary sets and keeping them ungraded and in OGP. I have no real need for graded coins.

I still have my 5 sets in the unopened shipping box from the mint. I was going to send them in for grading but haven't gotten around to it. Just not sure if I want to. Does anyone know if I can send it in and have 3 sets graded and have PCGS send me back 2 ungraded?

You can't open the box or you will not get the 25th "set" designation. If you send them the box of 5 sets, all will be graded.

The 2011-P reverse proof and 2011-S uncirculated coins are available only as part of the 25th anniversary set, which had a mintage limit of 100,000 sets. The reverse proof and S-mint uncirculated are considered key coins because of their 100,000 mintage limit.
