I accidentally placed two orders, one for 2 sets and a second for 4 sets. When I looked at my order status, these two orders were flagged as suspended. Is this because I exceeded the 5 order limit? Anyway, I was able to place orders for 2 sets and a second for 1 set maybe shortly before the mint shutdown orders. My new orders are listed with a hold status.

Hmmmm... I just checked my order status and mine is listed as "on hold" as well. I have the order number and receipt and everything, so I hope this doesn't mean anything is wrong.

Oh -- false alarm. A little Google search turned up this tidbit:

Just talked to a US MINT representative and they said it takes 7 to 10 days to check your background/creditcard etc.... Once the information is confirmed the "HOLD" status will be released.

I have 6 sets to sell, 2 to keep, although I will wait until I actually get them in hand, then figure out the best way to sell them. I agree that the two unique coins with the second lowest mintage by far of any ASE will be key dates/coins and increase in value. Give that this is a very popular set, obviously in high demand. I imagine the price will settle between $400-$500, although I hope more. I've been looking forward to this set for some time and am glad I was able to snag a few. I can't wait for them to ship now.

I have seen the on hold thing happen every time I order one of the 5oz ATB's, especially with the first few releases. It's just the way they do things. It will take them 3 or 4 days to sort through today's mess then the status will change. Guess you can call today Black Thursday, it's just a crazy as the day after Thanksgiving. I spent 3 hours today and had good progress. I feel bad for those of you that were not as fortunate. Once I actually get a shipping confirmation will I believe it's going to be real..

I don't think the mint did a bad job overall - I just have an issue with the lackadaisical attitude toward bandwidth when then have a product like this. And even on off days, their website can be slow. In the private sector, companies get a black eye over this (Amazon, Target, etc).

The difference is the mint is a monopoly and therefore we either play by their (bandwidth) rules or pay in the aftermarket. Not great, I know but it is what it is.

Took me about 3 hours to get my 5 sets ordered. Tried the phone for 1/2 hour and gave up. I thought all was lost, but my order finally went through.

Just because you have an order number, on hold, etc....does not mean you will receive the item or quantity of items.

Wait and see how the order numbers provided and items received turns out.

With 100K available, mint should have limited to one set per household.

It's not just the "poor management" planning of the mint, it is the hopelessly antiquated system of routers and servers the mint has. Even they have admitted that this part of the order process needs to be updated. I think it was next to impossible to compete with the mass marketers, all of whom have instant redial phone banks and huge connected 4G networks with the latest hardware, and huge amounts of bandwidth. The casual collector with a single land based DSL line is going to be simply blown out of the water. Wonder if they might revise the order limits during the process? Only if there is a huge customer backlash or possibly an enormous back order list. For a lot of people, today could really be described as "Internet hell!"

I can't even login to the site to check my order status . I'm just gonna hope everything goes right. I saw an article online where the reporter thinks these things could be worth $1k each by the time it's all said and done. Plus the metals are way up this week I couldn't b happier;)

I don't understand why all the sour grapes. Everyone I know got the number of sets they wanted. They just logged in at noon, put up with the slow system, were patient and persistant

My plan was to be online right before 9am, but got delayed and didn't start trying until 9:20am. Could not get the site to come up, and finally found the phone number. I called for about 3 hours and never got through to anyone. Always a busy signal once I hit 1 after the call answered. I loaded Google Chrome based on someones suggestion and that worked much better. It took about 3 minutes between screens, but I eventually got my 5 sets. I spent more time than normal because my billing and shipping addresses are different and I had to make sure they were correct before submitting the order. I got an email confirmation and they show backordered, so I think I am good.

Sorry to hear so many people could not get through. I don't know how much additional bandwidth or whatever the Mint would have to add for these situations. But, since they sold our in 4 to 5 hours, I don't see them doing anything to change at this time. It's not like they have a lot of money laying around. Any money they get probably goes somewhere else to be spent.

I just logged in through Google Chrome (IE does not work) and I wnet to see if I could order a set and it says backordered on the page. If anyone still want's some, you might give it a try with Google Chrome. It does not say wait list on that one page, but I'm not going any further since I got 5 already. Just a FYI.
Rest in Peace
