I wonder if it would be worth the extra $43 per coin to have the sets I'm not going to keep graded in 48 hours, just to get them on ebay before anyone else.

The expected ship date hasn't really been changing, in reality it is set at today+14 and when the system goes around and updates the TO pages, it looks like an intelligent change, which it isn't. I doubt that PBGS has a set date for shipping to start either. Most likely it will happen when enough of the early orders are cleared for fulfillment and enough sets are actually in stock at the PBGS warehouse in Indianapolis to justify sending a batch or two to fulfillment. The expected ship date will say today+14 right up until it changes to "in stock and reserved".
jamesta, I am assuming that the $43 per coin is from NGC. PCGS offers the express service for $50 per coin as opposed to the $60 from NGC so if that is what you decide to do you can save a little cash. PCGS is currently estimating 6 day turn while NGC says 48 working days (which I think is a typo, might mean 48hrs) but those estimates could change once the anniversary sets start arriving.

I don't think I'll take the risk; it would add $200 to the cost. Of course ebay auctions that get into bidding frenzies... like the one set that already sold for $1200+!

Supposedly ebay took care of ALL of the 25th Anniversary Sets...at least the active listings. Some managed to squeak through with "Buy It Now". Pushed back another day...the 18th.

People keep listing them but I just looked and the oldest listing is from 5:30PM today so they are starting to yank them better than before.

Letter just received from Mint--heart skipped a beat, then, all OK: Dear United States Mint Customer: We are fully aware of the difficulties many customers encountered last week with the release of the American Eagle 25th Anniversary Set. We would like you to know that we have undertaken an aggressive review of how we brought the product to market so we can better serve all of our customers in the future. Dick Peterson, the Deputy Director of the United States Mint, has also directed that the bureau review all future product offerings to ensure that we apply to them the lessons we learned from the marketing of the American Eagle 25th Anniversary Set. One of the principal sources of frustration was our web and phone order-taking system. As many of you know, we are in the process of updating our order management system. Our current system is very outdated and we recognize that it does not serve our customers well. Accordingly, we recently selected a contractor that will develop and implement our new system--one that will be modern and comparable to other top-rated retail Web sites. Unfortunately, this transition will take some time; we are anticipating that the new system will be in place by fall 2012. Our aim is to work earnestly to ensure that the inconvenience and frustration that our regular customers may have encountered last week is mitigated in 2012 as we re-examine our product launch strategies and systems. We value our relationship with you and are committed to serving you professionally and responsively. You deserve no less! More Earle42 saga! I'm staying tuned! Its all to familiar! They give you the best BS they can come up with, They know just what to say to get you off the phone. I'm glad theirs humor in such a sad event. I had tears in my eyes when I read " has talked with customer service representatives Lori, Judy, Tiara, Steve, Yolanda, and Patty." When I got to Yolanda, I said aww hell.. So much for for that set. LOL This must be their regular switch list, I've spoke to the same people but in different order, First was Steve, Judy, then Lori Yolanda,Patty. Don't know why but I got the same cringe when Lori told me she was transferring me to Yolanda. lol But shes very nice, nothing like the Stereo Type that jumps in my mind. (For Humor Purposes Only) I swore the next thing I was going to hear is "Whach You Need Fool" I asked her what the pick 6 numbers were then realized she probably doesn't know who Yolanda Vega is. After a brief explanation she had a laugh. Stay with it, don't give up! Their counting 100% on you quitting! That's why they make it a hundred transfers and as long as possible. They've mastered the art! AND the worst part! Everything you thought of saying on that survey, the justice that maybe someone will hear your horrible series of events. The little comfort you were going to get from just being honest, They rip from you as well. Ohhh that was the topper on the cake for me! I swore I'd never use them again, even canceled my subscriptions to ATB Quarter bags and rolls. But just when you think your out, They pull you back in..lol Have to have my ASE's. Best of luck on your outcome! Keep us posted.

Unfortunately, this transition will take some time; we are anticipating that the new system will be in place by fall 2012. I actually have mixed feelings about this. Yes, it was frustrating to have to keep hitting "refresh" over and over again and getting the error screen, but at the same time it was nice knowing that everybody was having the same problem -- even the professional resellers and dealers who had banks of employees all trying to order 5 sets at once. I suspect that with a modernized ordering system the whole thing would have gone much, much smoother... and the entire run of 100,000 sets would have been sold out within the first 30 minutes or so. Maybe even quicker than that. I keep thinking about popular concert tickets that are sold online that completely sell out within minutes and how everybody complains about how unfair it is. Is that really any better than what we went through? At least with all the glitches there was a chance that somebody could get a set even if they weren't able to get to a computer until 2-3 hours after the sale began. The other alternative, of course, would be to increase the mintage by a factor of 10 or so, but if that were the case the sets likely wouldn't be as desirable in the first place. Heck -- the only reason I ordered five sets instead of one was because the mintage was so low and I knew they would go up in value dramatically (not that I'm planning on reselling them anytime soon, mind you). If these were minted in vast quantities, I'd probably have ordered one set for myself just to look at the nifty reverse proof but with no expectation that it would be a good investment.

To Earle & amassey: I would suggest you write a letter detailing (depicting) your whole endevour/mishap and send a copy to your House of Representative, Senator, Mint Director, and Dick Peterson (the Deputy Director of the Mint) to see what happen. Especially Earle, it seemed like you already got your story type up. AND even print out this thread/topic and send along for their leisure reading. Also, if you know who chair the Finance Committee of the House and Senate, then send them a copy too; mind you, even the President should take some time off his campaigning trail and read some of your frustration.
Why? Because we are in AMERICA and our voice need to be heard, they are elected officials being elected by you (the people); they represent you. A good communication line especially with your House of Representative can also do you more good in the long run. Lastly, Because Election Year Is Coming !
