My sets say they ship on 7/27/2012, but oh well I haven't been billed either so I could careless. I will be excited to to the final product, that is for sure.

They jolly well better be shipping way before October. If not, then we've all been had! I'm not liking the sound of this. Can you please provide a source for the ship date you mentioned?

If you ordered right away you should have a july ship date, but some of the more recent orders people have been reporting a september 28th shipping date which is absurd

With the ship date jumping all the way to September 28 (like mine ordered on the 26th), it makes me wonder how many sets the mint made before they started taking orders. I wonder how many they expected to sell. I am sure that they sat in a room and tossed this around. There is no doubt in my mind that if they said there were only 200,000 sets they would have sold out a long time ago. It's amazing how the mentality changes when there is no limit. I am kind of glad the mint did this for this set. At least it will give them (and us) an idea of how many sets people will order when there is no pre-defined limit.

Perf it will help for unlimited mintages in the future but for "special" sets at least hopefully they never do it again. If they are going to do it this way just sell each coin as a proof and save us the money on the special packagaing premium at least

Maybe I am missing something here but why don't you just look and see what your ship date is?

If you ordered the first few days then it will be in July

*sigh* I wish I could argue that, but I have a feeling you both are right. I think I'll enjoy it, alright... a little too much.

I am not saying the mint should sell future sets in this way (mint to demand), but I think it is good that they tried it one time anyway. And I will bet that the mint folks are following how orders are going and also what people have to say about it, like in this forum. It will be interesting how they interpret this data for future sets.

I don't understand what the big deal is about the Mint having no set mintage to it. They have been selling the proof ASE since 1986 with no set limit, so why not all of the proof ASEs?

They are specifically minted for collectors, so why can't all collectors get what they want?

Even with a mintage of 200,000, that is still quite low for a proof ASE, compare to previous years, where the mintage is 400,000 and higher.
http://americansilvereagles.us/proo...in-mintages/

The 2006 set sold 248,875, so it looks like they might have lost a few collectors, since then?

And I'm quite confident that the US Mint doesn't follow any forums anywhere. They don't have the time or the knowledge to do so. They are just trying to increase their revenue, so they don't go in the red.

If they sold each coin individually for 60 dollars (maybe a little more on the RP) and didnt call it special I and I am sure many others would have no problem with it.

Once they tack on the 20 or 30 premium for a set and call it special and all the other nonsense I have the problem. Its not special its not anything its just 2 proofs packaged together with an even greater premium tacked on top of it because they can.

IMO with silver going down a good bit ASEs are already starting to run high like all the mint silver products, Id rather not spend 20-30 more on a box

Just received this email from MCM........almost sounds like they would need to be ordering more coins from the mint, but they promise a ship date on August 8th and we know if you order now the coins aren't being shipped until late Sept., so how are they acquiring more of these sets? ..........

We took orders for the NGC San Francisco 2 Coin Anniversary Sets from Friday through mid-day Sunday and sold out of our initial supply in part due to the very low special price. We are hoping to have more product to sell later today at the now current, higher market price. Most likely, those will again sell out quickly.

PRICES WILL BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON SUPPLY AND DEMAND. WE ARE RE-EVALUATING PRICES AND QUANTITY LIMITS AT LEAST TWICE DAILY.

Shipping is still estimated to begin on August 8th.

We are offering FREE SHIPPING on all NGC San Francisco 2 Coin Anniversary Sets at this time. We are not yet accepting orders for PCGS graded sets but will let you know when we do.

Special Note: The "Trolley" label is only available to volume submitting dealers such as ModernCoinMart. However, you can buy them from us!

Check the website frequently if you can as quantities will most likely come and go, and prices will vary.

Happy Collecting,
The ModernCoinMart Sales Team
