its all over the mint just closed the window on this one (put it in the books) I managed to get my 2 sets - almost forgot to order it! ha we might see sales close to 300K - but then with cancellations (bad credit cards etc) maybe it can push it back down we shall see what the final mintage will be

Well it's after 5PM eastern and the Mint's counter stood at 250,738 at 3PM. It's hard to believe that only 5600 sets were ordered up to 3PM today. My question is: do you think seeing the "almost" final number so close to the 250,000 threshold, at 3PM might have spurred a lot more orders for the final two hours?

I thought that the figures tallied by 3pm were to reflect the prior day of sales only and not half of the same day?

I wouldn't be surprised if several thousand sets were ordered in the last few hours of sales and the final number might reach 255K, we will know for sure in 22 hours.

They took off the count on that web page now. I'm glad you guys were able to get there in time to get the final count. I doubt many, if any orders were taken after 3 PM. I think most of the last minute waiters, checking on the mintage, would have ordered already. It is still a pretty good mintage for a proof ASE. Whether it ends up being 240k or 260k, it doesn't matter. That small of a difference won't matter.

yea todays tally wont be known till tomorrow - but most likely the mint wont give the final tally since its already taken down, my estimate of 250 K was about right unless of course 25K were sold today (thinking around the first day numbers ) we shall see!!

talkcoin, it appears that the mint has been publishing the total units sold as of the time of posting (and not something like up until the previous midnight). Of course, that number is all sales reports that reach the system as of the time of reporting. Approximately 3PM ET is when the mint tallies the day and closes the books, including shipping. If an order gets marked as shipped after 3PM, it won't actually go out until the next afternoon.
M0nks, the mint says that it will update the total tomorrow with the final total sales.

Wow, I really hope that 738 people cancel though I'm thinking the final number will be in the 260k region. I would really like to see how many sets everyone bought like Southsav said so I started a thread his is the link. https://goccf.com/t/123315

The thing that is bugging me is the three estimated shipping dates that the mint has announce - July, September and October. With all these shipping dates it makes me believe that the initial July shipment date doesn't have a lot of sets in it compared to the final number of set sold so the mint could have underestimated the projected sales.
However the September and October shipping date makes me question as to why the mint made the September shipping date announcement. After all the sets are "produce to order". These two dates kind of makes me question the overall capacity of the SF mint or their own estimates.
But the question is truly irrevelant because the ordering is closed. However, 3 shipping dates for a month of ordering does seem to be excessive. Does anyone think likewise?
