I went to my LCS to pick up a couple rolls of silver War Nickels. So far I have purchased 4 rolls. Each time I buy some I set aside all the 1943 P's and today was my lucky day. 1943/2 Since these come out of a bucket and are mostly well worn or scratched, I was even more pleased to see that this one only has a verdigris problem! It even has some luster! I don't have a camera capable of getting a clear picture of the date, but in the fuzzy zoom in you can make out the 2 right where it should be. In hand it is much more clear under magnification.

Update: Verdicare removed all the verdigris!

John1, I have used that page as a reference when I started looking through the nickels! I knew I had the real deal when I could see the base of the 2 not just the crosslet.

Nice score ... I can confirm the 43/42 over date based on those photos.

I grade VF35 ... not sure how you can be seeing luster with this much circulation wear.

The luster remaining is between the letters along the rim. It isn't much but there is some in hand!

I am not sure about this one. The 1943/2 was a doubled die, and I am not seeing any doubling on the OP's coin.

It is missing the lower bar that the 3/2 should have:

Fuzzy or not, the coin looks like it in the first picture. Nice pick.

Here is a bunch of photos from Variety Vista http://www.varietyvista.com/1943PDD...20nickel.htm. The doubling is everywhere on the 1943/42 variety. There is none on the OP's coin. The photos are clear enough to prove this is not it.

Under magnification I can easily make out the bar of the 2 as well as the crosslet of the 2.
