It looks like someone paid full price for this one.
I have my doubts about the coin--but how about you?
Do you think it's fake, and what are your reasons?

flat, unnatural toning is really suspicious

I'm no expert by any means, but the lettering on the reverse looks off...The "E" in cent, for instance, looks huge for some reason. I think I'd stay away, especially for full price!

I would definitely have to say fake. The details seem off, especially on the reverse lettering. I also don't trust that seller, either.

The toning appears wrong to me.
And it's the sort of coin that I wouldn't buy in that apparent grade unless slabbed.

Good call--the style of the serifs especially. It looks more like a "bold N" reverse from the 1870s. There are a lot of things that just don't add up--the "luster" doesn't look right, the "S" mintmark, and those mushy denticles on rhe reverse--a lot of red flags.

Here's how the ONE CENT compares to a (real) 1908 reverse:
