Nice pickups wheezy and yotie yotie, what was the first year of these Canadian Large Cents? Quote: vermontensium- Interesting colonial! It is obviously quite worn and off-center, but which type of colonial is this?
It's a Connecticut Copper AUCTORI CONNEC:. I am still trying to attribute this particular example (there are many and this one is dateless, it will be a challenge)which is pretty nicely off center. It's not uncommon to see these Connecticut's OC, but this one is much farther OC than most I've seen.

wheezydog- How common are those 1942 D over horizontal D nickels? Are there any price guides that actually list these as known varieties?

Quote: wheezydog- How common are those 1942 D over horizontal D nickels? Are there any price guides that actually list these as known varieties? I believe if you bought more than several rolls of circulated 1942 D nickels, you may find one if you are lucky. You might cherry pick one out of a dealers circulated nickel cache. They appear on ebay at the rate of maybe 2 a month in circulated and I only ever saw a couple high grade ones. Uncirculated ones are quite expensive and scarce, the circulated ones like mine can be purchased at around $20 to $30 dollars. This variety is one of the top 10 Jefferson nickel Varieties of which there are perhaps more than 100 varieties in all. The 2010 Red Book has it listed in the guide. I think it has finally found a spot in the Red Book for the last few years. I am trying to have a subset of all the top 10 varieties and those that appear in the Red Book. I still need a 1949 D over S and a 1946 D over inverted D. I think I might be happy with a small set of 12 or so major varieties. Mine are mostly circulated examples ranging from Fine to AU.

Archraz The Red Book/Guide Book lists it and so does the Numismatic News monthly values booklet. Nice purchase.

DL20K's collection updateGuatemala, 2 Rs, 1895: Two types of Japanese 50 sen: I guess the above coins would grade AU, and are as good as you can get them here. I also got a Chile 20 centavos (1924) and Iraq 20 fils (1938), and last but not least - this lovely tiny coin! - Colombia, 5 cs. 1902, one-year type (OK bad photo, I know). The downside is, that having little money to begin with and having to pay with rolls of change (it's a wonder they didn't moan about counting all of it!), I won't be able to buy anything for quite some time.

I already posted this coin on another thread but I just love this coin! I bought it last week to go into my type set. It has appealing toning around the egdes on both sides that does not show well in the pic. It is graded by PCGS as problem free VF-35 1835 Capped Bust quarter

I have been on a kick lately making 5 coin date and mint mark sets and putting them in Whitman plastic snap closed holders. I got these from our member nlpcoins through his ecrater store. I have a nice 1939 D nickel that would blend in and thought I had a VF or so quarter but I guess I'll go find one that will match. Making these sets is kind of fun, I had the holders so I guess it's a good way to use them up. 1939 D project circulated add this aquisition and I found my nickel. The quarter looks like a match so I completed my mini project. Will post the set when quarter rolls in with the mailman. What, another nickel? 1950 Jefferson This is an underrated uncirculated coin IMO. Overlooked because of the popularity of the 1950 D. I also got this 1950 Nickel from him too! ( and the images as well by permission )

My mom gave me a 1999 Silver Proof Set for my graduation gift. I was holding off on getting it for a long while because of the price but she surprised me with it . I now have all the State Quarters in Silver Proof =).
