I believe this nickel to have a lam peel going on from under the bust up through liberty/date on the obverse. Didn't notice anything on back due to wear.
I used red arrows on some pictures also to point out things I was seeing and with the letters I was wondering if the long spike looking notch's are normal.
Thanks for opinions, hope everyone is in good health.

It is indeed a delamination error, I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the areas your pointed out, delaminations are random and can produce oddities on design of the coin, especially if the error occurs before/during the strike.

These errors are fairly common on War Nickels because the alloy content containing silver instead of copper, I'm not sure exactly what about it causes the issue so frequently though. They even split clean in half sometimes, I was lucky enough to have this piece pass through my hands when I used to work at a coin shop.

EDIT: I should also note that there is also a lot of evidence of Die Deterioration going on, the trails you see in some of those letters are caused by that, as are the parallel striations in the fields. Nickel is a harder metal and the working dies get worn significantly faster than you would see on other coins.

Nice find!

Adam.e: thanks for the info ! Thought it looked like the lettering was smeared out from the tips of some that looked like spikes to me but faint.

Coinfrog: thanks!
