Hello,

This is another coin offered by a local coin shop... Any thoughts or insights on condition would be appreciated!

Two reverse pics shown. Pics too soft to see surface details clearly.

Is this the true color of the coin?

As long as your coin dealer is reputable, it looks like you have a very nice coin. That said, I agree that the photos are too soft and show no details that we look for to estimate a grade. I would get weight and measurements before purchasing. That's not an unreasonable request of a dealer.

Thanks for the correction. To me these pics lack the clarity necessary to make a sound decision.

Hello,
I will ask the shop to send clearer pictures, or I may go see it myself tomorrow. These are not coin shops, but rather 'cash for gold' type places. The coin weighs right, but the shop also has an 1894 $10 Lib and it looks off. I have seen a $5 gold lib before in Rome that was a Lebanese/ME counterfeit, but likely gold.

Taking a look at this example, both of the coins look strange enough to pass on. Anyone seen a Rim Fin on the inside of the rim before? Maybe this was squeezed in a bezel before.

I have a 1910 D $10 gold indian which the forum agreed was an authentic specimen . . . and I am seeing enough redflags on this example pass. Overall, what sets me off on this one is that all of the details look very soft. I understand photos of gold coins can do that, but it just doesn't look struck.

I don't like the look of the rim on that one. Sharper photos are needed to tell more.
