Beautiful coin, and thank you for being expert enough to include the vital wingtip detail. I don't think the coin has ever circulated, but I'm a bit scared by what looks like hairlines across the cheek. Cabinet rub, methinks. The color isn't out of the pale for Barber coins - they tone this nicely naturally. Would a TPG look at these details combined, and wimp out? Probably. Me? I'm thinking it's a righteous MS63 with off-the-scale eye appeal. |

The rim dings hold it back to 62.
The differential toning suggests to me that it was lightly cleaned a long time ago.
Fortunately, a lot of lustre was retained at the time.
Really nice coin, nevertheless.

I think it's an AU-58. I think there is too much friction on the face to grade MS. There are quite a few rim nicks on the reverse and some on the obverse. While the rim is one of the least grade sensitive areas, I think it would likely get slightly downgraded if it wasn't for the nice toning which I think may be just enough to keep it at a 58. An otherwise 58 like this one but mostly white with the same number of rim nicks, I think would grade 55.

I hate grading MS or near MS coins from images alone.
I think the coin looks great - and I agree it has secondary toning - from years in an album.
I don't see cleaning lines - again - its too tough a call from images.
The edge bumps could be the result from a minor stint in circulation - the Reverse wing feather tips are all there - but -
I'm leaning towards an AU 58. Without having any real evidence to substantiate it.
I'd love to use that coin in my 7070 regardless.
