Also keep in mind that British silver was last minted in 1946, eighteen years before the last circulating 90% silver coins were struck in the U.S., and 23 before the last circulating silver coins in the States general.

It's still a matter of supply and demand, Pertinax. Maybe there is more demand in the UK for English silver coins and not many people wanting to sell? While in the US, there are relatively many more options to buy US silver coins, "junk", bullion or otherwise.

Silver is ticking up again and I'm a seller at $25/ozt...
I sold some US dimes in the BST section of this forum today at 18X... right around spot.
Much better than the 12x and 15x I was offered at a show last month!

NH Coin & Currency Expo. Junk silver at 18-24x. Morgan dollars at 30-33x. To get the lowest multiplier, you had to buy big.

@NumisED -
Thanks for the update.
18x is melt right now so that's very fair, but 24x is high to me.
Morgans at 30x is right on the money these days, for ave circ, or unc I think. I don't buy culls but those should be around 20 right now in my opinion.
Did you notice what Eagles were going for?
How was the show? I'm from Boston, usually go to Bay State Coin Show never made it up to NH. I hear it's pretty big, around 200 tables?

There was also a lot of bullion, home made or otherwise. There were four sellers of world coins and about three world currency sellers. I noticed one dealer was selling baseball cards. I prefer this show over the Bay State Coin Show, as the latter is much smaller and charges a higher entrance fee.

Coin show Friday - Orange TX. Junk for sale @ 20X; Morgans at 25X. One table had War Nickels @ $3 for singles (people were not lining up for them).
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

LCS buying at 18x, selling at 22x. States gold and silver flowing in, not much flowing out. I'm a long time customer of the store, was able to buy a cleaned Liberty Half Eagle for $550 (price set last Tuesday), and cull to Fine Morgans and Peace (including problem-free 34 and 35s) for $25 each.

My LCS busted up a bunch of recent proof sets and made a few rolls of dimes and quarters. He sold rolls at Junk Silver prices. This was a couple of months ago when junk Silver was going for 19X face.

I bought a rolls worth of 40% halves at 7.5x face or @ $3.75/ coin. That is currently $0.28 below melt value per coin or thereabouts.
