a couple of boxes ago I found 2 55's in the same box. But, that same box also yielded 15 58's and 7 38's. Somebody deposited something they probably didn't mean to...

Maybe I missed it in the beginning of this thread but

Are you planning on keeping the nickels since they contain 7 cents of copper and nickel or are you giving them back to the bank?

i turn back in all except the pre 1959's, and any special finds. it's illegal to melt them for intrinsic value anyway, and it will be a good many years before there would be any chance of it being legal. Copper pennies (pre-82) are also worth about 2 times face value in copper, and they are also illegal to melt. But, since the disappearance of them from circulation won't have a huge impact on circulating coinage (there are billions of zinc Lincoln cents out there) there is a small chance the government might legalize the melting of them. Legalize the melting of nickels, and the entire denomination would disappear from circulation. That would be crippling to commerce.

UPDATE from a past 100 roll update:

Two updates ago I got a dateless Buffalo nickel, that I had said was too worn down for the acid to work. I juts took another look at it; it's readable now! I must have been bleary-eyed that night, but it is a 1917s.

Here's the latest update!

HI Numi_63 and all yall,

I got those 2005 P Bison rolls in the mail safe and sound and I must say that if anyone ever deals with Numi_63 I give him a great big A PLUS in dealing with through the mail.
They look nice!

One of these days I am going to get on my stapler and 2x2's and break out the duplicates of Jeffersons I have.

Also I am soon going to take that simple spreadsheet off the website I put a link to so if you want to use it yet, get it and save it, be a couple days or so yet and it will come off.

Thanks for the compliments wheezydog! I learned a long time ago that it's always best to stick to my word as best as I can. Tends to make life alot easier for everyone involved . Hope you enjoy those nickels! Thanks again for the kind words.

I tallied up my numbers so far and found that I've searched 366 rolls of nickels to date. Just a drop in the bucket compared to your efforts CND but at least I'm well on my way to reaching my personal goal of 1000 rolls for the year . If I keep it up I'd say I will exceed that goal by years end.

Having said that, it may be awhile before I get back to the nickels because I just ordered my first box of half dollars from my bank. I'm, very much, looking forward to getting those! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but it's still kind of hard to not dream about what that box might contian . Maybe I'll find some goodies maybe I'll find zip. Just have to wait and see.
