I used to make up excuses, I had several I used, but I always felt weird about it. Now, since I've done over 100 boxes of coins I tell the truth. I say I collect coins. Most of the time they get interested and ask what I have found. One teller was like "oh cool, I collect too", and then she pulled out a coin she found that day to show to me. I asked another teller if it was annoying having me always get boxes, she was like "no, in fact we have several other people searching boxes too". If you are honest you will feel a lot more comfortable! |

Not only the same box, but the same roll! The roll was marked "NICKELS - OLD" I open it up, and sure enough 40 dateless buffalos are waiting for me!
Pictured are 4 1913 type I. Also in the batch is a 1915, 1919D, and several from the mid 20s. None have clear dates, and a couple are worn down to almost nothing.
Anyone know what the value is on coins like this? I know that a dateless buffalo goes for about 50 cents, but what about the type I's?

Yep, be honest with the banks. They are trained to be suspicious of strange behavior (lying, nervousness, etc), and they may think you are doing something illegal. Unless you are getting 2 dozen boxes of coin a week from the same bank, the worst you will usually run into is people thinking your love of coins to be a bit odd. Most will say "Oh that neat, find anything cool?" Sometimes you will get really lucky and a teller will hand you a silver something or other that they found.  |

Finn-they usually go for 15 to 20 cents each on ebay in large lots. Any partial dates may be worth a buck or so. Your 1919D could be worth more, maybe 3-4 bucks depending on condition. |

I got $150 of nickels earlier today and found a 1944D, 1945D (hole filler!), 1948S, BU 1958, and a 1975 Canadian. And with that I've completed my War Nickel set, and only 2 dates away (1938D, 1950D) from a complete Jefferson nickel set. |

I finished a box a few days ago, but haven't had time to post. I didn't do too great, but I did get one dateless buffalo no raised mound, no no wavy ribbon, and no mint markalso got 2 helvetica coins (swiss) 1966 and 1998 both in really nice shiny shape and I also received a singapura 20 cents coin 1991 in gorgeous shape Other notables were a 1942 P non silver 1955 P just average other 40's and 50's Box was brinks, clear wrapped for those who keep track of that |

I bought 3 rolls ($6 face) in machine wrapped rolls. I got a 1941P, 1952D and the best one, a 1926P Buffalo! In another roll I got a 1948, and a couple keepers from the 1960's (I don't keep 1964's of course).

Just think if you keep all the 64's from all the boxes you go through you will have a lot of money.  |
