There is what looks like a mint mark on it and there should not be any. Have you checked it with a magnet?

no mint mark, checked with a loupe. Did not check with magnet.

21's always look worse than they actually are because of the terrible problem with strong strikes for that high relief design element.

It looks 40, but I wouldn't be surprised with a 45 or 50, either.

One thing I won't say is if it's been cleaned or not, because I really can't tell from this photo. Talk about a coin with a terrible cleaning problem, so many '21's have been dipped and cleaned it's terrible.

Finding one without that and with a strong strike and WITHOUT ugly toning is a challenge.
