1979 Kennedy Half Dollar/Need Advice

Loupyloop New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 02/28/2023 5:54 pm Hi, I'm relatively new at this and one of the things I'm still working on is differentiating between die crack errors and damage. In this instance, the "crack" runs behind the letters so it's not likely damage. Am I correct? Also, the FG looks like it's missing. In one of the pics of the microscope image, you can't see the FG. But when I tilted the coin a little, you can see it's barely there. Are these legit errors? Should I spend or keep? All images are of the same coin. Report this Post to the Staff

Since you can see it, no, it is not supposed to be an FG. PCGS rules say there cannot even be a trace of the letters. Yet PCGS and the other companies slab many where you can plainly see not only traces of the initials, but even full letters. People get taken for thousands of dollars b/c of their lack of consistency and expertise. The data is linked to from the PCGS website itself inside the essay I mentioned.
