svslav Pillar of the Community United States 2605 Posts	Posted 06/19/2010 3:02 pm I'm not sure what it is exactly but on the obverse, I believe, it's an image of a former king Faisal of Saudi Arabia. The Hejira dates of his life (it's in the references on the webpage) are stated on your medal, 1324 -1395, and I think Wikipedia is a bit off translating it into AD. On the reverse it looks to me to be the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Report this Post to the Staff

Someone initially identified it as an official Saudi government commemorative medal, then noticed that the genuine medals didn't have the fineness mark on the reverse; that one is probably a jewellery/bullion copy of the medal. Yours doesn't have a fineness mark either, so it's probably a genuine government issue. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
