dialog_gvf, what is the story behind the 1921 50 cent being glued to a bedpost?

Sorry, I missed this. A post in recent months says that the Canadian Currency Museum in Ottawa has, or had, a vertical display behind glass where coins were mounted by being glued to a post, including a 1921 50c.

*sighs* Makes me wish that the 1936 "dot" penny I found and posted pictures of on here a few months back was actually a real 1936 dot cent. I never did send it to get verified or graded, but prefer to think that I might have an unknown jewel in my collection. Besides, right now I've labelled it as a 1936 dot cent (there is a dot, and it's on a 1936 cent, and it's in the right location, and it's the right size). A girl can dream.

I'd love to get my hands on one. Every once in a while when I do some Lincoln Cent roll hunting, I find Canadian cents. Maybe I will get really super lucky and find an unknown example of the dot cent in my searches?

Cookiecutter, you really found a 1936 dot? Why wouldn't you get it certified?

There were some lovely amazing fakes out there many years back. Got to check both sides to check for the fine drill hole as it started to push the copper out from the far side..It's all been tried before...
All of the real ones are well documented ..I feel...

Since there were only 3 known in existence, I figured that the likelihood of it being a genuine dot cent was slim to none. I showed it to my dealer who agreed that the dot appeared to be in the right position and it was the right size. He mentioned that I could send it to be authenticated. But somehow thinking I may have an unknown gem is exciting, more exciting than knowing I have a dud.

Cookiecutter, gotcha. I knew that feeling for two seconds...I recently found a 36 but didn't take long to notice there was no dot, dud or even dust or dirt.
