That's a beauty. I'll take 64 all day on this coin. Maybe a 65.

MS62----Because it is so ugly---I want to see mirror fields for a 64.

lambecolin...You're a hard one to please,..

...but I too would love to see all of my vicky coins with mirror fields.(ie: cameos) In hand it's not really that "ugly"...

My 'avatar 1858 5 cent piece' is basically the only true mirrored field vicky that I've ever seen. ICCS graded this 1888 in the 90's.

Thanks for the comments so far.....

Maybe a few others will "take a stab"... and I'll post at the end of the day.

Knowing how the love fest is at ICCS with toned coins and Brian's love of 5 cent silvers, and the fact this was graded very early on I am going to say you own one of the 2 MS 66 coins in the pop report. Looks like one heck of a coin even from the picture! Drool!

Although I feel this is a solid 64 and pushing 65 I have this sneaky feeling that the toning caused this to drop and he gave you a 63

Well it is in with a known group of 10 others. With probably a few more out there to discover.

These little guys do look better in the hand and with a 7X loop and not blown up to the size of a plate.

Thanks for the comments and trying to see through the blur and tricky toning. ..and playing along.

With the differences in grading this coin, just goes to show that you really need the coin in 'hand' to tell.

Beautiful coin Devlec..

Thanks Shaft.. ..and for all of the other posters comments on this coins grading..

Seeing as Shaft has resurrected this post, I will post a few newer pics with the digital microscope. I still prefer the full still digital camera (Nikon) pics the best for colour and more natural looking pics of these coins..

Probably a lot more pixels to start off with the Nikon D80 and it's macro lens.

I now feel that shooting through the 2 sheets of plastic also distorts parts of the these posted coins. It will be interesting to see how the pics look without any plastic reflecting back at the lens.
