I'm thinking that your coin looks better than several 1839-O PCGS VG-10 Capped Bust Halves I've looked at online. Congrats on a major addition to your collection! The prices for these seem to be continuing to climb.

Thanks for the compliments. I wonder what the estimated surviving number of these is? Anyone know?

It could make F12. This is a valuable date and worth close to a $1,000 in that condition.
P.S. Survival estimate is 2,000 pieces in all grades and I'm sure many of those are below F12.

FYI, PCGS has graded only 1 F12 but 13 F15. Highest is a single MS67.

In my humble opinion, this coin is definitely better than VG8. That is for sure, and it could it make Fine 12. A coin to be proud of. I am sure I purchased mine 20+ years ago, before prices rose so much.

Estimated survival rate of 2,000. Thanks for the info. I checked Heritage archives and it seems there are a lot that have been cleaned. I will leave this coin wild, but it looks like if I were to consider selling it in the future, it should probably be slabbed. I've completed a 7070, but I am going to start a key date 7070. This should fill a hole!

If that's the way your 7070 is going to be purchased, that is going to be one SPECTACULAR album!

Quote: If that's the way your 7070 is going to be purchased, that is going to be one SPECTACULAR album! Not saying I will actually finish it! Some will have to be semi keys. I'm not buying two 1877 IHC's, two 1815 CBH's (heck, I don't even have one yet), two 1909 s VDB's etc. because I have sets of IHCs, CBHs,CBQs, wheat cents, Barber quarters, Barber dimes, Seated dimes, Seated halves, Seated quarters, Liberty nickel..... and on and on and on. All in the "need to complete" phase. Mostly down to the keys. I have spread myself too thin. If I find it and I don't have it and I have the cash, I buy it. If I try and concentrate on just one type, it seems I stumble across un-pass-upable deals on everything else.
