I agree, harshly cleaned, looks like a Charlton DP:-2 5/5 though.

I am thinking the same thing as the others. I am trying to complete my Silver Dollar set. I just bought a 1945 last month on ebay. I went with an ICCS graded one. I am not totally confident in my ability to grade a coin properly or detect a fake or other defects so I decided I would only buy a graded coin if I am spending over $200.
Not saying these companies can't be wrong but I trust them more than my limited knowledge.

Okay so here's my question to you folks... This seller list said coin as UNC... clearly not the case and given the number of sales and coins this seller has done in the past you would think they would know....

In my opinion I would rather have the seller say "judge condition for yourself" rather than state that a coin is in a grade that's clearly far off..

What are your opinions?

Well there are tons of Canadian circulated coins on ebay listed as UNC or BU (or even worse MS-6X). So what is a buyer to do?

Never take the seller's word as gospel.

They do provide very good pictures for your trained eye to judge the coin's condition.

Shouldn't be a problem with this one to call it as 'cleaned'.

For your sake, I hope you thought so too.

cleaned with gusto---and also dipped, as the denticles are so sharply defined.
Dipping is ok if not too much----but the hairlines spoil the whole coin---save your money!

Sold $287 well above AU50 trend, 41 bids (and snaked 2 seconds before hammer). Sheesh. Maybe it's time for me to sell the similarly marketed "MS60" one I got 9.5 years ago for $185...

I just was looking at alot of coins on ebay and there so many overgraded, polished, cleaned etc. Even one that was bent w/o mention. I have several 43-47 Canadian halves that are nice with some luster that look better than that one. I think mine are AU.
I noticed that some of the sellers have over 5000 sales and good feedback. I guess to many crooks out for a buck
