I can't imagine anyone would turn any Morgan or a Mercury dime away in the right circumstances. So, in the sense of whether they are desirable, of course they are. Whether it was good buy is dependent on what you paid. I'm not really an expert on either of these types, so I can't help you much, but maybe others could if you can tell them what you paid.

Well, these are better photos, for sure.

I'm still inclined to believe that they've been cleaned - I pretty certain of that with respect to the dimes, but I think I'd have to have the Morgan in hand to be sure on that point with regard to it. Insofar as wear goes, the Morgan looks to be high AU at worst.

Can you not buy Merc's on ebay from people in the US and have them shipped to you? I've been buying rolls of Merc's for less than $80 and typically there are a few AU's included.

And as much as I like old US coins, I would buy silver rounds before I'd spend that much on common Mercury dimes

What specifically was giving you cause for that concern? Unless the weight's off, I'm not seeing it - plus it's one of the most common issues in the series, and thus not normally one that's counterfeited.

The coins do not appear to be cleaned. Must've been quite the wait to get those coins all the way down to South Africa.

, one of the most iconic designs, up with the Standing Liberty quarter and the Walking Liberty half. That era of coins was the best, IMO.
