My grade is $50-$75. There are thousands of 1847's in this grade/condition. Paying more than this would not be a good buy IMHO.

Ok, I'm excited, maybe I should be, maybe I shouldn't be, I'll let those in the know better than I tell me. I picked this one up. It is graded EF-40, but that aside, it's from the Walter Mustain collection. When I found this I, admittedly didn't know much about Walter so I'm hoping other copper collectors here can tell me a little about him. But from what I read, he is an expert in the field of large cents, an EAC Member, and an all around good guy. I'm sorry to say Walter passed away and his son is offering his collection to others who appreciate what Walter brought to the table with regards to large cents.

I'm thrilled with my purchase, it's already listed on my site and in my inventory. It should be here within about 4 or 5 days. Here's a pic from my site now that it's in my collection..

If anyone can tell me more about Walter I'd love to learn more about him and his collection.

By the way, it's attributed as an N21 R2....

My EAC grade is VF20. TPG might be torn between 35/40, but I think it should get 40 as it is a nice coin with better than average surfaces for the grade. I also agree with 1893S on pricing.

Lovely coin. I would say XF40 at the lowest, possibly 45.

Nice coin! Great tribute video to Walter. I would put it just shy of 40. So, VF-35 with great eye appeal. Not a rare coin in this condition as mentioned above, but certainly one to be proud of.

Thanks JPBone, the one it replaces was nothing more than a hole filler. Liked this one and enjoyed the back story
