Best Microscope For Coins?

Can't beat the Panasonic 30x pocket scope for ease of use and taking to coin shows. Part # Light Scope FF-393E

I use my Canon macro set up more often than my stereo scope, but the stereo scope comes in handy for long sessions or when dealing with a lot of coins (more than 20). I have the Scientific American Zoom stereo inspection scope 1.5 - 7 X with several widefield eyepieces. Price was around $370.00 several years ago (2006), I sold them at my old job, so I got a good deal on one before I left.

I also have an early prototype Celestron USB scope. It's cheap and works well for a quick snapshot, the newer ones are much better quality in focusing and picture quality.

I just got the scope that SSK got. Came in two days free shipping and was on sale. It has a ton more options then my Celestron. As of now I am very frustrated. In time I think this is a way better scope than the Celestron. Here is my first test shot of the left hand of a 2009 cent.

The light control is in-line on the cable. The LEDS are the flate square kind not like the bulb style that are on my Celestron. There are 180 pages in PDF formate,so many features and I don't understand more then half of it all .

I first maxed out the magnification on the scope and then adjusted the stand until I got a clear pic. I think that pic didn't turn out like I wanted it to. It is a bit to close and a bit out of focus.

I have several cheap Harris 10x loupes that I got at coin shows.

The reason I have so many is that I would forget to bring one to the show and had to buy a new one.

Now I have them in various locations. I keep one in the car.
