First, my condolences. I'm truly sorry for your loss. What a beautiful way to honor your father. The memories you have shared with us are simply amazing. Thank you for that. My dad (still with us) and my grandfather who died 33 years ago got me interested in coin collecting. My fondest memories of my grandfather is sitting with him as we went through his collection. To my grandfather, a good day was sitting with his collection with the Cubs playing a game and us watching it on his little 9 inch black and white tv. Miss him still..

What can be said that hasn't already. Boy did your dad live a very proud and full life dan. I remember the conversation we had about your facination for space themed coin designs and now I know where it comes from. What a life your dad lived as one of the greatest generation! What awesome memories you must have of your childhood. I can't believe how much you look like him. It's almost uncanny. May he rest in peace and your memories be full.

What a life and what a story! Not very many people can say they lived as fully as your father. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I think that 1897 S Morgan should grade MS-66.

So Sorry to hear of your loss Daniel. Your detailed sharing about his life was a joy to read though. He truly was a great man who we are all indebted to for having served for our freedoms. Having a hand in astronaut training also is just an amazing thing to be a part of. You have a right to be proud of your Dad's accomplishments in this life. Quote: we simply ask that everyone just bring back fond memories of their own departed family members. My maternal grandfather is who started me in coins. Like your father with you, my grandfather used the coin hobby as a means to get closer together. I can say I respect him, and what he did in my life, as being likely the wisest, kindest, most giving, most moral, and most logical man I have ever met. My CCF name of Earle is in honor of him and was deliberately designed to bring him to mind every time I am online about this hobby. To log in, I have to type his name. So he is still with me when talking and collecting coins.
