It was a cherry pick but I wasn't the only one that spotted it. I love going through listings and spotting varieties I don't have . Like the 1883 I posted a cpl days ago. Well that one I just got lucky.

Raymo, is that a strike through I'm looking at on the last coin you posted between the E and the wreath on the reverse?

No better feeling than a cherry pick. I do most of my cherry picking by accident. I cherry picked an 1869/69 Indian cent a few years back. It was a great night when I discovered it. I posted it on the forum to help confirm my thoughts. Anyway, nice coins!!

Raymo - how much did you pay for that 1873 on ebay?

The first one posted was 4.50, the second one I might keep private and let Jbuck use it on guess the price. It was more than I wanted to pay but far less than my last second bid.

Wow... I may have to cherry pick a 1873 DDO IHC myself... Great price you got that one for, I myself would have paid twice that!

Not familiar with the varieties of the Indian heads, do all 'close' 3's have the lump between the C and wreath or, just some?

Quote: Not familiar with the varieties of the Indian heads, do all 'close' 3's have the lump between the C and wreath or, just some? Just some of the reverses have the die lump. In fact, the 1873 S1 variety has 2 reverse dies, one without the die lump (S1a) and one with the die lump (S1b). So really worn examples of S1a would be really difficult to find without the die lump to serve as a marker.
