ebay bucks - if your signed up for eBaybucks, every quarter you can earn ebay bucks based on the buying and selling you do. Last quarter my daughter had over $100 in ebay bucks to use for any ebay purchase. ---------------------------- Why someone would pay over face value for modern circulated notes.... I will not try to guess.

Alpha - You would need a staggering number of points, agreed.
Seller gives up, what, 11-12%?
Still makes no sense.

GR58 - OK, understood, but how does this relate to the original question - selling common currency on ebay in bundles at a premium?

You get 2% back for ebay bucks, so you would need to spend $40,000 in a quarter to accumulate $800 in ebay bucks and then not be able to find anything to spend the $800 on. Then you would need to prefer $500 instead of $800. Does not sound like the reason to me.

Well another idea, if going for an ebay bucks optimization / scam, is to wait until ebay offers Bucks promotions (which is common per month, depending on how much stuff you buy in general). ebay can boost the bonus to 10%. So nothing extra for the seller during the bonus, but the buyer on $500 would get $50 in Bucks that would be spendable at the beginning of the quarter. Practically nullifies the seller markup, and again, if using a stolen credit card, further increases the take.

It would be better to use your ebay bucks buying Gift Cards at a face value discount than buying cash at a premium. Something else is going on here. Is the seller just trying to increase their sales volume?

Maybe, but there are a lot of these being sold across multiple sellers, and it just reeks of something devious that we have or have not mentioned.
Oh, and we didn't mention that these could be photos of real legal tender, but some sellers ship the "movie money" bills that are booming on the site, but edited to look exactly like a legal bill (i.e. counterfeit).

We've got enough smart folks on here that we should be able to figure this out.

I have no idea why, and am apathetic about the subject.

Possibly a way of laundering the $$$$? People use MoneyGram and Western Union the same way and the fees for those are pretty high. Theoretically this would allow structured purchases that are in larger amounts than the wire services can process daily.?

Boy, this bugs me. Thing is, the first seller has a giant positive feedback rating.

I'm kinda thinking something in the way of money laundering also but who knows?
Use a business credit card for a "purchase" of cash for your pocket to spend?
IDK

I had a thought that perhaps US currency was so desired in some other country that it was worth the premium but the seller on ships to addresses in the US.
