Do you think that a grading company would "slab" either of those monsters?
Calling 1000 Kg of gold is really silly. Why not just stamp a 400 oz gold bar, declare it a coin and sell it at a hefty premium?

The 1-tonne gold coin was made as a gimmick, purely to beat the Canadians and break their record for "largest gold coin". They only made one (cast and sculpted, not struck, of course), carted it about for a bit as a showpiece and then promptly melted it down again and sold the gold off in more manageable chunks.

If I am not mistaken, the RCM actually minted several of those coins because after they unveiled it at the Olympics in Vancouver, there were many enquiries to purchase them. |
