Just sent the package out today with 4 other real DDR's. 2 are from 2005 and the other two are from 2004. Mailman will pick it up tomorrow and will be on it's way to John A. Wexler. All of them including the cent from 2017 is in a non PVC flip case. I will let all of you know what John Wexler thinks of this coin and will share his opinion. I will copy and paste it in quotation marks. I am also interested in knowing what he thinks too.

You're very welcome. I look forward to seeing the results too when the news come back. Post will be updated when I hear back from John A. Wexler. Still a crazy coin though as it's Struck Through Grease heavily both sides and has a Die Crack on his head and has a Die crack on the reverse on the top left of the shield.

Coop you must be one heck of a guy to try to help someone just to have them tell you they know more than you do!

40.00 is nothing compared to how much money I have in my budget. I can afford what I've lost. It was a bad mistake, but whatever. I could care less about it. I make sure I won't do it again. Laugh at me as much as you want Mark. I might be a idiot for buying it, but oh well.

I want them to see what I see. If they are missing it, then I help them again and again until they see what I see on their coin. I want them to be sure for themselves, before they agree with me. Then I have accomplished my purpose here.

We'll see what Mr. Wexler thinks of it when it comes in. Probably just MD, but we'll see. Coop, I know you're trying to help me and now I realize your point. Not going to bother getting a refund on it since I like the coin too much and left the seller good feedback.

When I make a bad purchase, do you know what I do with them? I save them as reminders of that event and make sure not to do the same again.

Coop, I will definitely won't do that again. That's a great idea Coop. This will remind me that I won't make a bad purchase again.

Here is a thread I created about the ATB MD incuse design on the quarters a while back:

I have a bunch more quarters to shoot to add to this thread.

I agree that this coin is not a DDR. I have not seen a coin that resembles this one. It almost appears to me to be a dropped letter. Not sure though. Still Lookin

It can't be a "dropped letter" because the die design is raised to create the incuse lettering on the coin. I agree that the "E" is MD and not DD. As coop said, incuse devices are enlarged by MD, being the inverse of raised devices that are ensmallened by MD.

coop doesn't have a following without reason.

Questions/Comments:

The seller found this in circulation and then put it up on ebay. He had trouble selling this at first

How do you know that? I didn't see anything in the listing to suggest that and if they had trouble selling at that price, I'm not surprised.

That's great but, wouldn't spending that $40 on something authenticated be more enjoyable? It's my opinion but, that's a waste of $40. I've never spent that on a single coin. Remember those PCGS MS-65 War Nickels I posted with huge reverse die cracks? The most I paid between the two was $15 shipped. The other was $11.

That's why many of us post potential purchases here for opinions before buying. If you want to have the highest cost/lowest value collection then, I won't get in your way. To each their own, I guess.

I understand being excited about the hobby but, sometimes it turns into being over-zealous.

I will, like others, await Wexler's opinion now.

I won't make that same mistake ever again. I am still excited what John Wexler thinks about it. I will let everyone know about the news when John Wexler gets back to me. Thank you everyone for the help. :)
