Not sure why the "restored" that one. It probably had a full date to start with. It now shows detail of maybe a VF coin so I would assume it was a fine when they started, A Fine would have been maybe an $8 coin. Now "restored" it's maybe $2.50.

It looks like one of the restored buffs that a guy here on the forum does. Can't remember his name but he was pretty good at it.
* I think it was weerdsteev

It does not look like an acid date, but does look harshly cleaned.

I might be using the wrong word, redtored. What would you call them?

I don't think we can tell a thing if these nickels have rotated dies. Not by looking at just one side. I took a closer look and I think I see "acid dates" on several. An acid dated buffalo looks generally like this. The coin date area a bit discolored or if the whole coin is soaked in vinegar it will look like this. Here's one of your coins best I could mess with it. A 1917 S. A key date.

OH look. They Minted all those upside down. I had to turn my Monitor upside down to see those. I really hate coins of any kind that are harshly cleaned or acid treated.

Quote: It does not look acid treated . It does to me. That is what a vinegar soaked coin looks like. See the examples TNG posted The vinegar piece that he posted has a lighting problem which makes it look darker than it really would be. Notice how dark the 2X2 is. One thing about the vinegar treatment is it will bring out the rolling pressure lines (planchet striations) that often are not visible on the original coin. You can also see in TNG's images that the vinegar restored coin looks a lot nicer than the Nic-a-date coin. Even color no ugly blotchyness or dark staining.

It looks treated for sure. It has that tell-tale uniform streaky look. I agree with most here, I just don't like them. If the date is legible, leave it alone.
