Weight? Not seeing any foreign coinage with a silver composition being struck at the Denver mint.
Do see Denver produced foreign coinage in other compositions.
Curious if you can smell and taste it again, can you detect any Zinc? Thanks, Doug.

Pieper, you're mistaking the responses as being negative. They're not negative, they're educated. The people who responded to you have multiple thousands of hours of experience between them, some of which can very easily be classified as experts. And they all unanimously agree that it's just damage. your coin and coins similar to yours very easily fool beginners, so detecting damage such as this becomes easy because you see it so often. When you gain a deeper understanding of the minting process, you will understand how something like this is indicative of being altered, and not due to a mint error.

I really don't know what to say, you have a damaged and slightly off grey toned nickel, that is what you found. If you're just just going to take anything aside from "you have found a million dollar coin". As an insult, then why even come on a forum and ask for others input? Keep looking and you will almost 100% find something of value. But if you're going to get offended just because this coin isn't an error/or worth lots of money, than maybe you might wanna re check why you coin roll hunt.
Our community is open to help new collectors with there questions and sharing knowledge, and if you're willing to accept it then I think you will find this forum to be of great enjoyment as well as this hobby.

I like fioti's idea , go have it slabbed and authenticated . Not good to get postal about this Nickel. It's all educated responses that we are giving you . This coin forum does NOT give bad or knowingly wrong advice .

Quote:If you have a War Nickel you could try the tissue test? coop, if the tissue test demonstrates that a coin is clad, can the same tissue then be used to wide away any tears?

To be a Silver nickel and have a mint mark on the reverse side, would require not only the wrong composition planchet, but a wrong reverse die as well.
