Some flatness on high points of leaves, a few obvious dings and scratches seen under the patina, I suspect that there are other much smaller ones that cannot be seen due to the patina. All wear, dings and scratches and remaining luster now patinated over. (obv.)

Same comments for reverse, small flat areas on top of Eagle's head and the high points of the feathers. Bars on RH side of shield starting to fuse together.

Examining it (1)on screen (2)under plastic, and (3)with patina probably hiding some of the hairline scratches, makes it somewhat tougher to grade. A TPGrader does not have to contend with the first two difficulties.

Nevertheless, quite a pleasing coin.

AU62, seriously barbers a weird. This is an easy AU-58 to MS-62 Slider. Barbers are up there with the harder to grade series.

Tough. TOUGH!

The shadows around all of the devices, leads me to believe this is an AU coin.

Almost puts me in the AU58 camp, but sticking to AU55.

Thanks for sharing.

I'll go out on a limb .... MS63. The TY is not gone just obstructed? Would have gone a bit higher except for the light scratches.

This was an uncirculated details (cleaned). I couldn't see the cleaning.

Now that you mention it you can see it in the obverse field next to the nose

The cleaning is obvious to the obverse, not so obvious to the reverse. I picked up on it at first glance. I'd just about bet the coin was cleaned and and then retoned by a coin doctor.

If you like the coin is all that really matters,

Anyway, you can always bust it out of its plastic tomb and put it in a Dansco type set.

Some of the scuff marks on the neck look like slab scuffing. The long neck scratch from the sword fight, however, is a problem. I don't think this would get detailed if the grade is AU, but that scratch might detail an UNC coin. The '97-O is a pricey coin and really escalates above VG. I could see this as AU-53.
